Welcome to Bright Blue Skies – where families find support, children find joy, and our community grows stronger together! A new endeavor from the team at JS Therapies, Bright Blue Skies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs and their families in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We believe every child deserves the tools and opportunities to thrive, and every family deserves a community that embraces, supports, and uplifts them.
Our Programs
At Bright Blue Skies, we’re working to build programs that provide comprehensive resources and support for families beyond traditional therapy. Here’s how we plan to make a difference:
Device and Adaptive Equipment Donations
We aim to help children communicate and participate fully by providing specialized devices and adaptive equipment for those families who do not have funding sources to cover these costs. From communication devices to mobility aids, we strive to make sure every child has the tools they need to express themselves and engage with the world around them.
Babysitter Training Program
Finding the right care for children with special needs can be challenging. Our goal is to offer hands-on training and guidance for local high school and college students to equip them with the skills and confidence to address the unique needs of children with special needs. We hope this program will provide valuable respite for families and build a network of trusted caregivers in our community, with a bonus of exposing more young people to the possibilities of careers in pediatric therapy.
Scholarships for Future Therapists
Bright Blue Skies plans to provide scholarships for local students interested in careers in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology, with an emphasis on increasing diversity in this rewarding
career field.
Community Education and Outreach
We’re excited to organize workshops, events, and resources to help families, caregivers, and educators understand how to best support children with special needs in an inclusive way. We hope to expand our community outreach by including more free screening programs to ensure that children can receive the benefits of early intervention.
Special Programs & Events
Our JS Therapies team has already begun offering free special programs in addition to our pediatric therapy services, including Art Groups, Self-Care Night, Autism Family Fun Days, and Parents’ Night Out. We hope to expand our funding sources to be able to continue building programs that support our families in the best possible way.
